Inwood is a census-designated place (CDP) in Berkeley County, West Virginia, United States, located south of Martinsburg in the lower Shenandoah Valley. The population was 2,954 at the 2010 census. It is located on U.S. Route 11.
Inwood is located at 39°21′12″N 78°2′56″W / 39.35333°N 78.04889°W / 39.35333; -78.04889 (39.353438, -78.048811).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 2.9 square miles (7.4 km²), all of it land.
As of the census of 2000, there were 2,084 people, 810 households, and 596 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 733.8 people per square mile (283.3/km²). There are 849 housing units at an average density of 299.0/sq mi (115.4/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 94.19% White, 2.64% African American, 0.38% Native American, 0.96% Asian, 0.05% Pacific Islander, 0.48% from other races, and 1.30% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.30% of the population.
There were 810 households out of which 35.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 56.5% were married couples living together, 11.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 26.4% were non-families. 21.1% of all households were made up of individuals and 8.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.57 and the average family size was 2.98.
In the CDP, the population was spread out with 25.7% under the age of 18, 7.4% from 18 to 24, 33.4% from 25 to 44, 23.1% from 45 to 64, and 10.4% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age is 35 years. For every 100 females, there are 95.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 91.2 males.
The median income for a household in the CDP was $41,033, and the median income for a family was $46,484. Males had a median income of $33,155 versus $23,750 for females. The per capita income for the CDP was $21,359. About 2.5% of families and 4.7% of the population were below the poverty line, including 4.1% of those under the age of 18 and 6.7% of those 65 and older.
